Blades’ Siemens to Pursue International Opportunity
The Blades’ organization is very happy to announce that Duncan Siemens is one of 38 players who have been invited to attend Canada’s National Men’s
Summer Under-18 Team selection camp, which runs from July 31-August 3 at Father David Bauer Olympic Arena in Calgary, home of Canada’s national teams.
Siemens is one of 14 defencemen invited to the camp…along with 24 forwards. Also, Four goaltenders will be added to the camp roster following the June 17-20 Program of Excellence goaltending camp in Calgary. Five Under 18-eligible goaltenders will be in attendance for that camp. From there, 22 skaters and two goaltenders will be selected for Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team that will play in the 2010 Memorial of Ivan Hlinka tournament, scheduled for August 10-14 in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The Sherwood Park, Ab. product is coming off his first W.H.L. season with the Blades in which he played in 57 regular-season games…scoring 3 goals and 17 assists for 20 points while piling up 89 penalty minutes and posting a +11 rating. He was a +1 with 11 penalty minutes in 7 playoff games. He also suited up for Team Pacific at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge this past December 29-January 4 in Timmins, Ont.
Hockey Canada’s invitation of Siemens, who doesn’t turn 17 years old until September 7, follows on the heels of Blades’ teammates Stefan Elliott and Curtis Hamilton being invited to Canada’s National Junior Team development camp, scheduled for early August in St. John’s, N.L.
